Slumped Glass

Slumped Glass is a premium architectural and decorative glass produced by heating flat glass in a kiln until it softens and naturally “slumps” onto a custom-designed mold.

This kiln-formed glass process creates smooth, continuous curves, wave patterns, and three-dimensional shapes that elevate the visual impact of any space. Slumped glass panels are widely used in façades, interior features, luxury storefronts, balustrades, furniture, and artistic installations, making them one of the most popular materials for custom curved glass design.

Production Process technology

• Mold Engineering: Each project begins with a precision-engineered mold. The accuracy of the mold determines the final curvature, surface quality, and consistency of the slumped glass panels.

• Cutting & Pre-Treatment: High-quality float glass is cut to size and meticulously cleaned to avoid defects during the slumped glass forming process.

• Kiln Heating & Forming: The glass is heated to approximately 600–700°C inside the slumping kiln. As it softens, it slowly conforms to the mold under its own weight, creating the required curve, wave shape, or detailed 3D form.
This kiln-formed slumped glass process is ideal for large, curved, and decorative applications.

• Controlled Cooling (Annealing): The glass is slowly cooled to release internal stress, ensuring long-term structural stability and superior strength for architectural slumped glass applications.

• Post-Processing: Depending on project requirements, the glass can be tempered, laminated, drilled, polished, coated, printed, or sandblasted before final inspection and packaging. These options make custom slumped glass suitable for demanding architectural projects.

Complex Curvature Capability: Supports arcs, S-shapes, U-shapes, wave patterns, conical forms, and other complex 3D profiles—ideal for curved slumped glass designs.

High Surface Quality: Ensures smooth, seamless curves with excellent mold fidelity and premium optical performance.

Safety Compatibility: Can be tempered or laminated after forming to meet global safety glazing standards.

Large Format Options: Capable of producing oversized architectural slumped glass panels for façades and feature walls.

Stable Textures & Patterns: Creates permanent 3D textures, relief patterns, and wave designs, widely used in decorative slumped glass applications.

Features & Benefits

  • Premium Aesthetic Effect: Curved shapes and textured surfaces enhance light reflection and elevate architectural and interior design.
  • Fully Customizable: Supports custom curvature, thickness, textures, colors, finishes, ceramic frit, coatings, transparency levels, and design patterns—ideal for bespoke custom slumped glass projects.
  • Improved Structural Strength: Curved glass naturally offers higher rigidity and better wind-load resistance than flat panels, making it suitable for façades and exterior use.
  • Compatible with Multiple Processes: Works seamlessly with ceramic frit, metal coatings, back-painting, sandblasting, lamination, and other glass finishing processes, ensuring maximum flexibility in slumped glass manufacturing.
